Highland Turkey

From Kuzuluk and its thermal baths, to Taskesti over the hills. Tough 41km day, and through some highlands of real poverty. A lot of Roma communities settled there, and the living looks hard.

We passed a loud Roma wedding but had to get on (best to avoid being married off too!) to Takesti where the hotel has closed to be replaced by a dubious lodging by the new 4 lane road.

Today largely descending to Mudurnu which is ancient and great. 13th Century hamami and the rest – and it’s still high. We have met a group of Japanese runners – running from Paris to Shanghai in 42km stages. One, 70 years old.

We have an idea to run with them tomorrow, while the support vehicle carries our packs….
